There are a lot of trends and data in the world of executive functioning.

But our Metacognitive Mentorship Model™ grew from decades of educational experience. It is not a packaged program or one-size-fits-all system. It is a process that we follow to help people understand themselves better and be part of their own solution.

We care deeply, think creatively, and stay closely attuned to each student and family. Lisa describes the work as

Executive Functioning Through Design Thinking.

Understand the person, identify the real problem, build a workable response, and keep adjusting as needs change.

We believe empathy and accountability belong together. Feeling understood creates the safety, trust, and self-awareness that allow genuine responsibility to develop.

Our Services

Executive Functioning

Executive functioning skills, the ability to plan, start, and follow through, are what help us turn intentions into action.

When these skills are strained, students may know what they need to do but still struggle to get started, stay organized, manage frustration, or complete work independently. Adults may find themselves repeatedly losing track of priorities, avoiding important tasks, or creating systems they cannot sustain.

Our coaching begins by identifying where the process is breaking down. We then help each client build practical routines, external supports, and repeatable strategies that reduce the mental load of daily life. Over time, clients develop not only stronger skills, but also a clearer understanding of how they work best and greater confidence in their ability to move forward.

Each client’s path is different, but the work follows a clear framework: The Metacognitive Mentorship Model™. We begin by understanding the full picture: what the client is being asked to do, where the process is breaking down due to emotions, environment, and executive functioning, and how these factors are shaping the struggle. We then build skills, systems, and self-awareness together so clients can respond more flexibly and work with increasing confidence and independence.

Personalised Tutoring

Personalized one-on-one tutoring helps students get in touch with how they learn best. We use a customized approach tailored to each student. My flexibility, paired with regular feedback, makes parents feel like partners.

Applying to high school or college can quickly become a second job for students and parents. Students receive practical support as they prepare for the ISEE, SSAT, SAT, or ACT and learn how to approach applications with greater confidence and organization. Parents receive guidance on timelines, expectations, and how to support progress without becoming responsible for every deadline and study session.

Parent Coaching

Parenting a struggling teen is hard. You are constantly trying to figure out when to step in, when to back off, and when to hold the line…when everyone—including you—just needs a break. You want to protect your relationship with your teen, but you also cannot ignore the important things falling through the cracks, the rising anxiety, or the constant conflict.

It is easy to get stuck in the same exhausting cycle: reminding, pushing, arguing, backing off, worrying, and then starting all over again.

Parent coaching creates a place to slow that cycle down and make sense of what is actually happening. We look beneath avoidance, shutdown, anxiety, disorganization, and resistance to understand how executive functioning, emotional regulation, expectations, and family dynamics may be interacting.

Together, we develop practical ways to respond that fit your teen and your family. Our goal is to help you communicate more clearly, set boundaries you can hold, offer support without taking over, and help your teen move toward greater confidence and independence.

Workshops + Consulting

Mindful offers workshops, professional development, and consultation for schools, clinicians, organizations, and parent communities seeking a more nuanced understanding of executive functioning and adolescent development.

Too often, struggling students are treated as though they need more motivation, firmer consequences, or another organizational system. Our work helps adults look beneath the visible behavior and consider how stress, emotional regulation, cognitive load, environment, and developmental readiness may be affecting a young person’s ability to access their skills.

Our sessions translate research into practical guidance on topics such as stress and executive functioning, motivation, emotional regulation, school avoidance, and supporting teens without adding shame, urgency, or unnecessary dependence.

Each workshop or consultation is tailored to the needs of the group, with an emphasis on thoughtful discussion, concrete tools, and strategies that can be applied in real schools, practices, and families.
